Food & Nutrition Services Home

Welcome to the Enablement Academy’s Food & Nutrition Services! Good nutrition and learning go hand in hand! Our department is served up by a team of food and nutrition professionals dedicated to students’ health, well-being, and learning needs. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices. Meals, foods, and beverages sold or served at schools must meet state and federal requirements based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide our students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet their health and nutrition needs.

Learn About School Meals

We serve healthy meals!

All school meals must meet strict USDA National School Breakfast and Lunch Program standards. These federal regulations ensure every meal includes:

  • Grain Requirements: Specific amounts of whole grain-rich foods.

  • Protein Components: High-quality lean protein sources.

  • Calorie Ranges: Age-appropriate limits to ensure proper energy levels.

  • Trans Fat Restrictions: All items must contain 0g of trans fat per serving.

How is sugar managed?

Sugar content is strictly monitored to support student health. Breakfast items are portion-controlled and must fit within specific calorie ranges. We prioritize items that balance low added sugars (as low as 4g) with protein and whole grains to prevent "sugar crashes."

How are the foods prepared?

To ensure safety and consistency, our meals come from two sources:

  • Approved Manufacturers: We partner with vendors who meet rigorous federal safety and nutrition specifications.

  • In-House Preparation: Many items are prepared fresh in our school kitchens by trained nutrition staff. All meals, regardless of source, meet 100% of the required nutritional standards.

Can parents see ingredients?

Yes. We believe in total transparency for our families.

  • Ingredient Lists: Families can contact the Food & Nutrition Department at any time for full ingredient labels.

  • Allergen Info: We provide detailed allergen information to ensure the safety of students with food sensitivities.

  • Nutrition Details: Comprehensive data on carbs, sodium, and more is available upon request.
